Curriculum

The high school curriculum is designed to support, encourage, and accelerate students from introductory courses to advanced classes and college dual enrollment classes.   The faculty is the strength of the academic program.  Each teacher has an undergraduate or graduate degree in the content area.  They bring a myriad of life experiences and backgrounds that help define our “unique curriculum.”  Small classes, taught by dedicated teachers, coupled with the daily extra help and evening study, create a supportive academic environment for both boarding and day students.

Our school curriculum is aligned with Arizona education standards and in many areas exceeds state requirements.  All high school courses have been curriculum-mapped into quarter units identifying student Performance Objectives for each quarter.  Teachers prepare daily/weekly lessons incorporating instructional strategies accommodating different learning styles. Students take three 80 minute classes a day with classes rotating every other day.   This structure allows students to focus on three subjects each day and thus results in deeper and more enduring learning.  In addition, the morning block offers time for extra help or review when a student needs such assistance.

Students are given quarterly pre/post assessments to measure and record student growth and provide teachers with feedback on individual student needs.  Teachers meet with the Dean of the School every quarter to review quarterly results and identify areas in the curriculum that may require additional attention before students can move on to the next quarter.

The faculty and staff are committed to providing every student with the opportunity of receiving an excellent education.   We firmly believe that every student has the potential to achieve intellectually, successfully complete school graduation requirements, and meet university/college admission requirements.
