Tony Tsang

Tony Tsang grew up in Hong Kong, China, and attended St. Stephen’s College, a boarding school. Upon graduation, he came to the United States where he entered the University of Arizona and received a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering. He has worked as a professional engineer in Tucson, Arizona for 35 years.In 1986, he was asked to join the Board of Fenster School where he served as a member until he became the President of the Board in 1998. At the present, he is serving in two roles. One is as President of the Board of Fenster School and also as the school administrator.Due to his experience as a boarding student, Tony Tsang has a wealth of information for anyone thinking of sending their students to a boarding school or for the students who would like to know what it is like to live in school. His bilingual ability in English and Chinese is a definite plus in this regard. He welcomes inquiries about his experience in either language.
 
Barbara Berheim
Director of Academics

Barbara is a native Tucsonan, born and raised in Tucson. She taught for 27 years in the Tucson Unified School District, and served that district as a resource teacher, department head and school administrator. After retirement from Tucson Unified, she and her husband moved to the White Mountains of Arizona.She worked on the Apache Indian Reservation in Whiteriver, Az as the Director of Curriculum for the Whiteriver School District and was the coordinator and clinical professor for all bachelor level classes for the Arizona State University Professional Development School. Following her position in Whiteriver, she was superintendent of the Concho School District in northern Arizona for three years.In addition to her work at Fenster, she is an adjunct professor for undergraduate education courses at Northern Arizona University/Tucson campus. Barbara, her husband, and two golden retrievers have relocated back “home” to Tucson and she is enjoying her time with the “Fenster Family”.
 
Felice L. Bonhard
Business Manager

Felice Bonhard arrived in Tucson 39 years ago and began working at Fenster Ranch Camp. When camp was over, she began working at Fenster School, initially for a secretary who was on vacation and then in the business office. Today Felice is an administrative assistant, but, over the years, she has worn many different hats, from advisor to admissions to cook to disciplinarian to “nurse.” In addition, she is the proud mother of two Fenster graduates.For her, one of the most satisfying parts of being at Fenster is working with and getting to know the students. In her free time, Felice loves to cook, crochet, needlepoint, and spend as much time as she can with her four grandchildren.
 
Chris Bingham

Chris is pleased to join the Fenster staff as the part time Spanish teacher for 2011-12. She is looking forward to working with this diverse student population and believes her previous professional experience will serve her well. Chris has been in Tucson for over 25 years and during this time taught in two TUSD high schools, Cholla and Sabino, located at opposite sides of the city. Academically speaking, Chris received her Masters Degree in Bilingual Education and ESL/TESL from Georgetown University and her undergraduate degree from Thiel College, majoring in Spanish and Secondary Education. Through New York University, Chris studied and lived with a family for one year in Madrid and later continued her language experience in Mexico. Chris is also a mother of two grown sons and enjoys traveling and several activities including hiking, skiing, camping, sports, music and theater. Chris looks forward to working with your child and enhancing your student’s learning experience.

 
Holly Cornell

Holly Cornell grew up in Wyoming and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming. She is hoping to start soon on a master’s degree in applied mathematics. She has taught high school English, as well as math, but most of her career has been as a computer programmer. Holly has four children, one teen and three twenty-somethings, who are the light of her life. She also has three grandchildren who hung the moon. Holly loves working with the Fenster students and staff, and is looking forward to a great year!
 
Sherry Chastain
Receptionist, Dorm Parent
Pima Community College, AA, General Studies


Originally from Oklahoma City, Sherry Chastain, our receptionist, lived in Southeast Asia from 1967 until 1969 where she served in the American Embassy Red Cross. Upon returning to the United States, she lived in Houston, El Paso, Las Cruces, and finally, Tucson. A mother of four and grandmother of six, Sherry has worked at Fenster for 14 years and has been a dorm parent for 11 years.In her spare time, she does handiwork such as crocheting, knitting, counted cross stitch, and needlepoint. She enjoys water color and acrylic painting, ceramics, sculpting, and has tried her hand at porcelain ceramics and stained glass art. Sherry also writes short stories and poetry, and has had one of her short stories published.
 
Sam Giallanza

Sam has taught in both Phoenix and Tucson, and has a broad teaching and educational background.Prior to joining Fenster, Sam taught Junior High School for the Catholic Diocese of Tucson. Sam’s hobbies and interests include Amateur Astronomy, Geology and Photography. Sam enjoys reading, hiking, bicycling, running, basically anything outdoors and close to nature.

Megan is currently pursuing her Masters of Art Education with an emphasis in museum and community art.Megan enjoys working with Black & White photography and mixed media art works.
 
Blaise A. Rastello

Blaise Rastello joined the Fenster School faculty in 2003, where, at the time, his wife, Anne, was teaching art. With a Bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University and an MBA from the University of Phoenix, Blaise is the Director of Technology and the computer teacher. In addition, Blaise and Anne have chaperoned spring break trips to France, Greece, Italy, and Spain.The Rastellos have three sons, Blaise Jr., 31, Kelly, 27, and Nick, 25, who were all born in Colorado where Blaise likes to spend his summers riding his bike and hiking in the Rockies. An avid reader, Blaise particularly enjoys historical novels. He really likes working with teenagers and watching the tremendous growth the students make each year.
 
John Ray

University of Pittsburg; B.S. Computer Science & Chemistry


Mr. John Ray is the teacher for Science classes at Fenster. He comes to Fenster with degrees in computer science and chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh and coursework in the Chemistry Ph. D program. He has work experience in the field of biological sciences as well. Mr. Ray has a strong interest in astronomy and has been an amateur astronomer since his teenage years when he built his first telescope. This interest in astronomy has also sparked an interest in geology and meteorology. Mr. Ray has also taught classes at LaRoche College in Pittsburgh, PA. where he served as a liaison between high schools and the college.John enjoys teaching science classes and providing hands on, real life experiences for the students. He is interested in starting an archeology club at Fenster.
 
Sonja S. Rosenberg

Sonja Rosenberg, the registrar, is a native Tucsonan who has worked at Fenster for over a decade. She likes working here because it is a close-knit community with a true sense of family. The ability to influence the students positively and see them grow and reach their potential is another highlight of her job. Sonja lives with her husband of over twenty years and together they enjoy square dancing, cycling, and attending theater performances and cultural events. Sonja also has a soft spot in her heart for animals, particularly rescue animals, and enjoys working with them on obedience training. And finally, she truly enjoys cooking and is always on the lookout for a new, healthy recipe to try.
 
Peter Whittemore

Mr. Peter Whittemore is the Social Studies and History teacher. He has 34 years of teaching experience, 17 of those outside the United States in Colombia, Costa Rica, Honduras, Finland, and Mexico. He speaks Spanish fluently and has taught advanced placement and international Baccalaureate courses.Mr. Whittemore’s Bachelor degree is from the University of Maine and his Master degree from the University of Arizona. His highly qualified status in Arizona qualifies him to teach Social Studies, Structured English Immersion and middle school Mathematics.Mr. Whittemore has a particular interest in little-known details of history and social studies and sharing those details adds life and interest for students.
